Raises even more questions for me..
“The atheists will never admit the ancient writings are historical accounts of events that took place because it implies if the events actually happened then the Gods of the ancient texts were real.”
I’m not sure if it implies that events actually happened but that some people choose to believe they happened.
It’s my opinion that most of the original stories in the bible are allegory and sometimes metaphor referring to various older astrological/astronomical traditions and written in code – except for this next, which, imo, tells directly of some kind of altercation that took place in the form of air strike.
“Tacitus recorded the following “…There had been seen hosts joining
battle in the skies, the fiery gleam of arms, the temple illuminated by a sudden radiance from the clouds. The doors of the inner shrine were suddenly thrown open,and a voice of more than mortal tone was heard to cry that the gods were departing. At the same instant there was a mighty stir as of departure.” “
It’s also possible Tacitus misconstrued all the lights and noise for battle, when (in reality?) it was only the noise and appearance of aircraft.
Looks like we’ve already got antigravity available to us, and have had for a number of years, so what’s to say the events seen and recorded by Tacitus weren’t people of the current time (that’s us) travelling back in time, or perhaps were visitations and departures of extra-terrestrials, and not gods at all?
I think either case is entirely possible and feel Tacitus’ record raises questions for both believer and skeptic in reference to human abilities for invention of either fact or fiction. It’s clear to me that not only are we capable of inventing both to suit our needs, and thus create ‘reality’ in our own image, we are able to truly believe that one IS the other when it suits us.
Further, I feel we need to understand that the whole of ‘reality’ is greater by far than the sum of its parts, or our interaction with it..
