We’re on the cusp of another wonderful Solstice! I just love the way this planet insists on turning around itself AND the sun. And I’m awed by the many ways we humans have found to admire and revere this Natural, yet Magical event.
We even set our clocks by it :-D

And on that note the universe has a sense of humour.
We know this because while the MesoAmerican Maya had a better calendar than ours which rather relied on such things as goal posts. They furthermore still aver that even better than that accuracy is the amusement to be gained from watching modern white people freak out about 2012.
As one heavily bedecked high priest I interviewed said: “Well why should it go further than that!? Hell we all knew we wouldn’t last nearly that long … but well you know how it is … the head man says to say otherwise will start a public panic and then the cocao price will go down and that means no retirement ziggurat for anyone .. soo .. *shrugs* what else could we do? Fine fine we finally agreed .. do it all the way up to 2012! Keep the baa baa’s happy!” *G*
And on that score *I* have a sense of humour – because I note only other people think my thoughts are outrageous! Tee hee *BG*
Hehe,, well I just love your sense of humour, regardless of whether (wether? :-) ) others think it’s outrageous or not lol,,
Anyway, I read somewhere that the actual date of the new beginning (for the Mayan calendar, not humanity lol) is sometime in October 2011, and that a mixup in timing due to the difference between the Julian and Gregorian calendar is why 2012 is being put forward as the change-over.
